Student Visas

Student Visa Overview

An Australian student visa is an excellent opportunity to experience both study and life in this vibrant country. Renowned for its welcoming atmosphere, outstanding education system, and high quality of life, Australia is a fantastic place to pursue your studies.

With a student visa, you can work up to 48 hours per fortnight during your studies and enjoy unlimited work hours during breaks. This flexibility allows students to earn extra income to support their living expenses and gain valuable work experience in their field of interest. Our immigration agents are experts in navigating the student visa process to help you every step of the way.

Since July 1, 2016, the various types of student visas were streamlined into two main categories:

Basic Requirements for an Australian Student Visa:

Enrollment Requirements

To qualify for a student visa, you must be accepted into a full-time course at a registered educational institution in Australia. This encompasses a range of options, including primary and secondary schools, vocational education and training (VET) courses, higher education (university) programs, and English language courses.

Confirmation of Enrollment (CoE)

You need to provide a Confirmation of Enrollment (CoE) from your selected educational institution, which acts as evidence of your acceptance to study there. If you are applying for multiple courses as a package, you must submit the CoEs for all courses.

Genuine Student Requirement (GS)

The Genuine Student requirement replaces the former 300-word statement with a series of focused questions. These questions help visa officials understand your background and motivations for studying in Australia, providing context for the documentation you submit with your application.

Financial Capacity

You may be required to demonstrate that you have sufficient funds to cover tuition fees, living expenses, and other costs while studying in Australia. This might involve providing bank statements or other financial records.

Health Insurance

You must maintain Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the entirety of your stay in Australia.

English Language Proficiency

Depending on your chosen course and institution, you may need to provide proof of your English language proficiency through standardized tests such as IELTS, PTE, TOEFL, or other accepted exams.

Welfare Arrangements

If you are under 18 years old when applying for a student visa, you must arrange for welfare in Australia. This could involve staying in student accommodation provided by your institution, living with a homestay family, or residing with a guardian.

Health and Character Requirements

You must fulfill certain health and character criteria, which may include undergoing medical examinations and obtaining police clearances.

Categories of Australian Student Visas:

1. **Student Visa (Subclass 500)**

To be granted this visa, applicants must meet all legislative criteria, including being a Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) and a Genuine Student. Applicants can include immediate family members on their visa for the duration of their studies.

2. **Student Guardian Visa (Subclass 590)**

This visa is for parents or adult relatives of students studying in Australia, allowing them to stay as the student's guardian. Generally, the student must be under 18 years old, although some exemptions apply.
